Plaid Plaid Live

Your bank feed, and your payees' banks,
through Plaid.

Disbo reads your IOLTA and operating transactions through Plaid, and each payee links a bank once, as a token. Admins and payees are ID-checked. Nothing is written back to your accounts.

What moves, and which way

Plaid reads and verifies. Disbo sends the payment.

Each item below is stated for Plaid specifically; other systems have their own page.

Plaid → Disbo

What comes in Live

  • Your IOLTA and operating transactions, read-only, for deposit matching and reconciliation
  • A payee's linked bank as a token (never the account number)
  • Identity verification results (government ID, face match, last four of SSN) for admins and payees
Disbo → Plaid

What goes back Live

  • Nothing. Plaid is read-only for your accounts; payments are sent from your own account through Disbo.

Inside the payee invite

What stays where

Keep your flow. Your bank stays your bank.

Plaid is how Disbo reads your accounts and how payees link theirs. Payments still go from your own account.

Read-only

Disbo reads transactions from your IOLTA and operating accounts. Plaid does not move money from them; payments are sent from your own account through Disbo.

Tokens, not numbers

Plaid hands Disbo a token for a payee's linked bank. Neither Disbo nor your staff store the account number.

Verified payees

Admins and payees are ID-checked: government ID, face match, last four of SSN.

Bank-change scams can't reach Disbo

An email asking to change a payee's bank changes nothing; the payee re-links.

If your bank isn't on Plaid

Our team adds the accounts by hand and verifies them with a micro-deposit.

Keep ACH off if you prefer

Checks only is common. Nothing about the connection requires ACH.
