Sending checks Live

Nobody at the firm prints,
stuffs or stamps one.

Checks are drawn on your own IOLTA, printed and mailed for you with the documents enclosed, and tracked until they clear. Eight in ten payouts still go out this way; they just stop costing an afternoon.

How a check goes out

Queued, released, printed, tracked.

The same check you send today, without anyone at the firm touching paper.

  1. 1Queue the payee

The payee is on the sheet with the method set to check.

Pulled from the case with the amount. The closing statement and the lien letter are attached to the payout, so they go in the envelope.

  2. 2Signer releases

Only your signer can release it.

From a phone, with a second factor. Staff prepare; the signer approves. The release is on the audit log with who, when and from where.

Owner check: firm logo on check and envelope.

The lienholder hears first

An email with the check number and amount goes out when the check is mailed. Fewer calls to your office.

Void and reissue, on the record

Lost, stale or wrong amount: void per your policy and reissue. Both are on the case and in the books.

FAQ

Questions about checks.

How fast does a check go out?

Usually within 24 hours of clicking Send. Printed and mailed within 24 to 48 hours, delivered in 5 to 7 business days. Status updates as it is printed, mailed, in transit, delivered and deposited.

Can the right letter go out with each check?

Yes. Documents are attached per recipient on the case, dragged in or picked from the documents already there, and printed and mailed with the check.

Where do checks go?

To the recipient, or to your office if you prefer to hand-deliver. Some firms mail their own fee checks to themselves.

What if a check is lost or stale?

A lost check shows as not delivered; reissue from the row and the old check is superseded. Delivered but not cashed is aged and voided per your policy. You place the stop payment with your bank from the number and image Disbo gives you.

Do you handle positive pay?

Today from the check number and image Disbo gives you the moment a check is drawn. A positive-pay file pushed to your bank directly is coming.

What do checks cost?

One rate per payout, the same as ACH: $4.97 month to month under 100 payouts a month, less on a plan or a one-year agreement. Checks you print in your own office are $0.
