Custom Plaid Integrations for Law Firms.
Send a payment link. Your client verifies their bank via Plaid in under 60 seconds and pays via ACH — no checks, no expensive card fees.
Powered by PlaidThe Obligation
Firms need to collect outstanding client costs or initial retainer fees securely and efficiently without absorbing high credit card processing fees.
The Friction
Asking clients to mail paper checks delays cases by days or weeks. Credit card payments eat into the firm's margins with 3% processing fees.
The Disbo Standard
Generate a secure link from Disbo. The client securely logs into their bank via Plaid and authorizes a direct ACH transfer, logged directly into your ledgers.
Core Capabilities
Bank Verification
Clients securely authenticate against 12,000+ supported financial institutions.
Zero Card Fees
Direct ACH pulls mean you avoid the heavy percentage fees of credit cards.
Flexible Routing
Direct funds into your IOLTA or your operating account.
Integrated Ledgers
Every collected payment automatically posts to the client's case ledger.
From case to collected, in four steps.
No check requests. No wire transfer forms. No waiting for a client to mail something.
Connect your practice software
Disbo syncs with Clio, Filevine, MyCase, and FileBond. When a matter settles, case data and client contact info are pulled in automatically — no re-keying.
Generate a payment link in one click
From inside Disbo (or directly from your case management system), create a secure client payment link tied to the matter. Specify the amount and which account the funds should land in — IOLTA or operating.
Client pays via their bank — no card, no check
Your client receives the link by email or SMS. They click, verify their bank account through Plaid's secure flow (under 60 seconds), and authorize the ACH pull. No card numbers, no paper, no trips to the bank.
Funds land with a full audit trail
Payment arrives in your IOLTA or operating account with a timestamped transaction record, Plaid bank verification token, and automatic ledger entry. State bar audit-ready from day one.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Plaid secure? How does bank verification work?
Plaid is the industry standard for bank account verification, trusted by thousands of financial apps including Venmo, Robinhood, and American Express. When a client connects their bank, they authenticate directly with their bank's login — Disbo never sees their banking credentials. Plaid returns a bank verification token only, which Disbo uses to initiate the ACH pull.
What bank accounts can clients use?
Clients can connect virtually any US checking or savings account. Plaid supports over 12,000 financial institutions including all major banks (Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi) and most credit unions. If Plaid cannot connect to a specific institution, the client can verify via micro-deposit as a fallback.
Does this work with Clio, Filevine, and MyCase?
Yes. Disbo has native integrations with Clio Manage, Filevine, MyCase, and FileBond. You can generate a Plaid-powered payment link directly from inside those systems without switching to a separate app. Case data, client contact info, and payment status all sync automatically.
Where do collected funds go — IOLTA or operating account?
You control the destination. When creating a payment link, you specify whether funds should route to your IOLTA trust account or your operating account. Disbo creates the appropriate ledger entry and documentation either way. Retainers and client cost advances typically go to IOLTA; earned fees can go to operating — Disbo lets you choose per payment link.
How does this work for custom integrations or firms with their own tech?
Firms with custom software, in-house tech teams, or consultants building integrations can connect via Disbo's REST API. You get a full API with webhooks, a sandbox environment, and documentation — no separate Plaid account needed. Disbo handles the Plaid credential and compliance layer so you just call our API to create payment links and receive confirmation events.
What does this cost?
Payment link collection is included in Disbo's law firm plans. There are no per-transaction fees for ACH-pull via Plaid — you pay the standard Disbo subscription and collect from clients without extra per-payment costs. See the pricing page for plan details or book a demo for a custom quote.
