Disbo arranges printing and automated mailing of firm-approved settlement checks through a third-party provider. Your firm chooses the appropriate account, reviews recipient amounts and approves release; payment and approval records remain linked to the matter for outstanding-check follow-up and reconciliation.
This outsourced check distribution replaces in-house check writing, printing and envelope handling—not your firm’s judgment or bank records. It is not a local or MICR printing product, and multi-recipient payments do not mean automatic settlement or check splitting. Trust and operating accounts serve different purposes; confirm your configuration and jurisdiction’s requirements.

The manual work
Printing and mailing is only part of the job. The firm also needs to know who approved a payment and which checks remain open.
A paper payment means a printer, a signature, an envelope, and a trip to the mail. Disbo takes on printing and mailing after firm approval.
When a recipient asks about a check, staff need a record connected to the right matter instead of digging through separate systems.
A check that remains uncashed needs attention. Aging reports give the team an actionable list for follow-up and reconciliation.
How it works
You decide who gets paid and approve the payments. Disbo handles the check printing and mailing. Your team can see what still needs attention.
Your firm confirms the appropriate trust account, then adds the people and businesses owed money on a case and their payment amounts. Operating-account expenses follow a separate account workflow.
Your team checks the payment list against the settlement paperwork and the money held for that client.
Authorized people at your firm review and release the payments. For applicable trust payments, two-person approval and two-factor authentication remain in place.
Once approved, Disbo arranges printing and mailing. You can use ACH for a recipient instead when available, but you do not have to.
See mailing progress and a list of checks that are still outstanding. The payment and approval record stays with the case, so your team can compare it with bank and trust records.
Mail and bank timing vary. Your firm still chooses the right account, reviews bank activity, and handles its trust-account duties. Connections to other software depend on your setup.
What stays connected
Check outsourcing should not create a second, disconnected accounting process.
Payments
Approved paper checks are printed and mailed for the firm from its trust-account workflow.
Payments
Choose an electronic payment when it fits; recipients who need a check can still receive one.
Tracking
Find open checks by age so your team can follow up on items that have not cleared.
Tracking
Keep payment and approval records connected to the relevant matter rather than a separate mail queue.
Controls
Authorized firm users approve applicable IOLTA payments before release; outsourcing the mailing does not outsource the decision.
Accounting
Use bank, trust-ledger, and client-balance records together to review differences and outstanding items.

Questions
The operational details matter as much as the mailing.
Your firm does. Staff can prepare payments for review, and authorized approvers release applicable trust-account payments through the firm's configured approval workflow. Disbo handles printing and mailing after approval.
Yes. A mailed check is an option for recipients who need paper. ACH is available when it fits the recipient and the firm's setup; it is not required to outsource checks.
Outstanding-check aging reports help your team find checks that remain open and decide when to follow up, void, or reissue. The firm should verify check and bank activity as part of its reconciliation process.
No. Disbo supports approvals, matter-linked records, and three-way reconciliation. Trust-account rules vary by jurisdiction, and your firm remains responsible for legal and accounting judgment, supervision, and its bank records.
Timing depends on approval, printing, postal service, destination, and bank processing. Ask about the available workflow and expected timing for your firm during a demo.
